The first-annual LHS literary magazine, The Corral, has arrived! A literary (lit) magazine is a collection of writing, photographs, and art. A teacher panel anonymously evaluated the submissions. The top work in each of the 6 categories received a gift card, and each person accepted into the lit magazine received a free copy!

The Yowzer Meet yesterday in Lisbon wasn't ideal for the weather but we did have a Lisbon Track and Field Complex record broken yesterday. Brynley Differding ran a 46.34 in the 300m hurdles. Breaking the old record by .10.
Brynley has qualified 5 events so far for the North Dakota State Track Meet coming up May, 21-23.

The Lisbon High School Library has expanded its graphic novel and manga collection thanks to a grant from the North Dakota State Library!
Why manga and graphic novels? This format has exploded in popularity nationwide, and it can encourage students' love of reading while they use literacy skills including reading images, considering characterization, and analyzing themes. A manga even made it into LHS’s Top 10 Checked Out Books List this year!
Mental Health Day 2026, what a success!! Our morning covered important sessions including guided breathing exercises and meditation, 988 suicide and crisis lifeline, good old fashion dodgeball, and a discussion on being real instead of striving for perfection. The afternoon was relaxing, exciting, and filled with joy. It was a great way to charge our batteries before we finish the school year strong.
If you have driven by the Athletic Complex today you saw a lot of concrete trucks! Special thanks to our partners Josh Differding with Differding Construction and Sonny Anderson with H Anderson Concrete for helping complete the foundation of our scoreboard project. More photos to come with in a couple weeks as the next phase will begin.

Congratulations to Nolan Sutherland for placing 3rd in Radio Broadcasting at the Class B State Speech competition! Nolan and Cailen Adair (not pictured) were also named to the All-State Speech Team as awarded by the Communication, Speech, and Theater Association of North Dakota.

Broncos Athletics for the Spring Season is underway!
Yesterday our Softball team started the season 1-0 with a win vs. Maple River. The Boys Golf team traveled to Wahpeton for their opening meet as well.
The action continues today with our Softball and Baseball teams hosting the Kindred Vikings.
For our Softball team it is Senior Night! 4:30pm is first pitch.

A couple updates to this week's softball games:
-Senior Night will now be Tuesday vs Kindred instead of Monday.
-There will not be concessions available on Monday or Tuesday.
-The water has not been turned on at Rose St park yet, so there are no working bathrooms, but there will be porta-potties on site.

Bronco colors may be red and gold but today these Broncos were dripping in blue! The Lisbon High School Speech Team may be tiny this year (only 3 members) but all three are Region 1 Champions! The small but mighty speech team attended the Region 1 Speech Tournament in Kindred today and had a phenomenal showing. Cailen Adair and Nolan Sutherland placed 1st in Humorous Duo, Cailen Adair placed 1st in Dramatic Interpretation, Nolan Sutherland placed 1st in Radio Broadcasting, and Faith Schwab placed 1st in Humorous Interpretation and 2nd in Serious Prose. The top two finishers in each event advance to the state tournament, so all three team members advance in all entered events. It was definitely a great day to be a Bronco!
This week's home and away softball games with Maple River have swapped locations due to field conditions. Monday's game will now be home at Rose St at 4:30 for our season opener. Thursday's game will now be at Hope starting at 4.
Senior Night for our six Bronco Senior softball players will follow the switch and take place before Monday afternoon's games.
We hope to see you there for our first home opportunity of the spring to cheer on our Bronco teams!
Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 LHS Reading Challenge! Team Las Leyendas (Ms. Myrum, Emily W., & Kristen W.) read over 14,000 pages during the 5 week challenge. Thank you to everyone who participated. The 10 teams read over 66,000 pages! Way to go!
